DAVID RAYA FINALLY SPEAKS ABOUT HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH AARON RAMSDALE, SAYING, “HE’S A LITTLE BIT DOWN.”

Ramsdale replaced Bernd Leno shortly after joining the club, and for the bulk of his two years there, he has been the Gunners' first-choice shot-stopper. He is now, however, the one forced to observe from the bench of the replacements as Mikel Arteta's team sets up Raya, a goaltender on loan from Brentford, between the posts.

Currently on loan at the Emirates, Raya has admitted he is anxious to stay an Arsenal player and it is largely anticipated that the arrangement will become permanent in the summer. Given that Ramsdale is currently excluded from consideration, that might be bad news for him.

Given that Ramsdale had done very little wrong, many questioned Arteta's choice to sign Raya, but it is increasingly clear that the Arsenal manager sees the Spain international as an improvement. Ramsdale may be excused for displaying symptoms of annoyance considering that he has only appeared in two games for the club since August.

Raya provided insight into what it was like to practice with his competitor for a short period of time, stating to The Athletic: "The relationship? It's excellent. The most important thing is that we are friends at the end of the day. We have an excellent rapport. There aren't any issues.

"Every day in training, I push him when he's feeling low, and he does the same for me when I'm feeling down. We teach three goalkeepers, possibly four, for hours a week, and you need that kind of rapport for the training to be successful.”

Raya's transition to life in north London hasn't been totally easy, and his performance in the most recent 1-0 victory over Manchester City has raised questions about whether he did enough to earn Ramsdale's benching. When Julian Alvarez stopped one of Raya's attempted passes, the Emirates gasped as a group, but the goalkeeper is still adamant about starting from the back despite the dangers.

The technical proficiency of Arteta's goalkeepers is highly valued, and Raya has made it clear that this will not be changing any time soon. He did, however, make it plain that he is conscious of the fact that, in the event of a mistake, he would be held accountable.

"The fans aren't used to us goalkeepers having the ball for a long time, and if they (the opponents) don't press, you have to wait for the right moment to pass the ball," the Bees loanee said. "It's a risk we take, but I accept responsibility for raising my hand if there is ever a mistake. There is no avoiding it.”

Although Arteta has stated in the past that he is not afraid to switch around his goalies, it is widely believed that Raya will be named to the starting lineup for the trip to Chelsea on Saturday night. Arsenal will travel to Stamford Bridge with the goal of maintaining their league-best undefeated record.

NEYMAR CASTS SERIOUS SHADE AT LIGUE 1, SAYS SAUDI PRO LEAGUE MIGHT BE BETTER

Neymar departed Paris Saint-Germain for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, although he hasn't played any match yet for his new team. He claimed in a news conference on Thursday that the Saudi Pro League might even be better than France's Ligue 1.

"I feel good and pleased, but I'm not in perfect physical condition. However, my body and head are both in good shape," the 31-year-old Neymar stated. “I was scheduled to play in Al Hilal's most recent game, but the coach decided to bench me when I got injured in practice so I could travel to Brazil”.

Now Neymar's doubts seem to be over. "You start giving value to everything you did," Neymar stated, "after a lot of pressure from family and friends (to return to the national team)." "They put you in your place and make you realize it is worthwhile to continue being happy by wearing Brazil's shirt when you are with your people, your family."

Neymar needs one goal to surpass Pelé's 77 goals to become the best scorer for the national team in official matches, a feat that the Brazilian soccer confederation is reluctant to acknowledge because it counts the three-time World Cup winner's goals differently and thinks he has 95.

However, Neymar acknowledged that the award is just another reason for him to represent Brazil. The striker replied, "It is hard to know what that record signifies, but it does signify a lot. "Nobody ever considered getting over it. After it is finished, I will respond to it.

Neymar, who left PSG amid rumors he was not wanted at the club after receiving abuse from French fans in recent years, took a shot at his former league at the press conference. Neymar responded, when asked how he would stay competitive in a league outside of Europe, "I guarantee you that football there (in Saudi Arabia) is the same. The Saudi league may be superior to Ligue 1 because the ball is round, there is a goal, and some players have joined the league.

"My head won't change much; I want to win trophies for Al Hilal. Everyone criticized me for being too competitive when I went to France, and it was there that I experienced the worst pain in my life, stated Neymar. "I am confident that it won't be simple to win the Saudi title; other teams have grown stronger and have well-known players. You'll definitely be watching since it will be incredibly intriguing.
